Letting Go: 3 ways to let the past stay the past

Letting Go
Good Moring loves and happy Monday!

I have really been getting into my morning devotionals lately and God has really put something on my heart that I feel I need to share. How many times do we rethink our past? When we do this we find ourselves getting caught up in the what ifs… It’s so easy for all of us to get caught up in these things, to replay them in our head and dwell on the past. I know I am guilty of it. It’s easiest to cut people out of your life than it is to choose to forgive those who’ve wronged you. Which is what I have been dealing with for many years. I’ve always avoided one area of my life to pray about. I always questioned why and I let the pain from everything I went through take over me. Becoming a mom has changed me so much and I just view life through a different pair of lenses now. Recently in my devotionals I have been opening up and praying about it. Praying for God to release the pain, anger, and insecurities I have. He told me… “Be still…” In that moment I knew it was the perfect timing, it was his timing.

No matter what you’re going through or have been through remember you’re moving forward. Beating yourself up over and over again reliving the past to figure out what you could have done to change the situation will not do anything for you but make you sick. The plans God has for you are much greater than what you can imagine.

Below are 3 things I did to help me get to the place I am in. This helped me let go, forgive, and LIVE my life in the PRESENT.

Pray

Whether its a small prayer in car or during a devotional PRAY. Release everything onto him. Every fear, failure, mistake, worry.. GIVE IT TO HIM. I promise you will feel such a weight lifted off of your shoulders. Just be still in the moment, listen to him.

Forgive

You have to forgive. Forgiving others helps you more than it helps them, it releases all the pain and anger. You’re not giving them your power dwelling on how they hurt you, you’re giving yourself more strength in forgiving. It’s not always easy but once you let go and forgive you can truly live.

Live In The Moment
Enjoy this time right here, right now. Focus on your blessings, successes, and goals. Focus on where you are and where you’re going… not where you were. Live in the moment! Love this gift of life, love what God has given you and where his path will lead you.

and remember… BE STILL. Live in the moment, keep him by your side and you will do GREAT things.

This is your LIFE and today is YOUR day!

Philippians 3:13-14 “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

XO,
SHAY
