How To Make Glitter Jars

If you are looking for an inexpensive and fun activity to do with your toddler, then I have got you covered! Below I have shared everything you need to know to make and use DIY glitter jars. Mia enjoyed making them, she’s asking me when can we make more!

A glitter jar is a glass jar, typically a mason jar that is mixed with distilled water, clear glue, glitter and sequins. As I was looking for toddler friendly activities for Mia I came across these and I liked what they were typically used for. Glitter jars are known to be used for stress relievers or calm down jars. These have been helping me get Mia to calm down when she gets in trouble and is sitting in time out. I allow her to have one to help her stop crying and also use it as an hour glass timer. Once the water and glitter in the jar is calm and so is Mia then she can get up. It has been a hit in our house!!

This was the best part! Mia is in the independent stage so it was neat to see her listen to me and follow the instructions. I like doing these types of activities with her, it helps her learn more and more. I am listing the supplies needed below.

1. 4oz mason jar. (you can use any size. I used a smaller size since her hands are smaller.)
2. 1/2 cup of clear glue.
3. Distilled water
4. Glitter (we just eye balled it.)
5. A few drops of food coloring
6. Sequins
