2020 Goals + Why You Should Set Some

Can you believe the new year is THIS WEEK! I am still in shock that it is going to be year 2020! I have lived in 3 different decades and TWO different centuries! That is insane to think about. Also, on a side note I will be 30 this year! Semi freaking out about that because I am not sure how I feel about it.

The New Year is basically here and that means it’s time to reflect on 2019, look at all that you’ve accomplished and all that you have not. What can you do to move forward and improve in the areas you need to in 2020?

Why You SHOULD Set Goals for 2020!

I am not that person to say, “new year, new me”. It’s just NOT going to happen, I am the type to set goals each year and just crush them. There is something so satisfying about killing a goal you have set for yourself.

I want to challenge you all, set goals that are specific and measurable or as they say in corporate America S.M.A.R.T. goals. Goals that are attainable. Doing this will help you get to where you would like to be in this coming year.

There are so many reasons why you should set goals at the beginning of the year. I’ll share my reasons as to why below.

Accountability

Setting your goals at the beginning of the year is great because there are so many others that are doing the same. Reach out to your friends, family, or significant other to help hold each other accountable to crush your goals.

More Successful

With setting your goals early on at the beginning of the year you can track them much easier. This also helps set you up to getting to where you want to be. You know exactly what you want to accomplish with achieving this goal and you create the correct steps to getting there.

My goals for 2020 are for myself, my family, and my business. I am sharing these below with you all to give you some ideas. Once you set your goals for yourself please share them in the comments below.

1.Spend More Time with Family + Friends

I am choosing this as my top one because I strongly feel that this is what I need to more of this year. I got so caught up with work and things that were “priorities” this past year that i made excuses not to see family and friends when I had time off. It’s so easy to lose contact if you continue to not nurture the relationships you do have.

2.Pay Down Debt

In January I will pay my LAST car payment. You have no idea how good that sounds! I still have my student loans and a couple credit cards that I am working on. Getting my finances in order is important to me because we have some business changes happening this year that we need to be prepared for. We are currently working on a plan to pay our debt down so we can live financially free.

3.Practice Self-Care

I suffer from anxiety, I feel that I carry so much around with me from my childhood on that it affects my daily life greatly. I have committed to myself to start going to therapy once a week. I have finally come to the realization that therapy isn’t “bad”, and it doesn’t mean that something is wrong with you because you choose to go. I feel that taking this time to work on myself this year will help me become a better wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend… just a better person in general.

4.Write in A Journal Every Day

I wan to document my thoughts and feelings this year daily. This will be something I will look back on as the year closes to reflect. Also, this would be a great memory to have 10-15 years from now.

5.Double My Income

I am challenging myself to expand my business and work with more brands each month. Putting myself out there to create these opportunities.

6.Creating a Family YouTube Channel

I have been trying to talk my husband into creating a YouTube channel for what seems like forever now! I think I almost have him agreeing. I am adding this to my goals because he is my accountability partner in helping me crush my yearly goals! So, this may help push him over the edge to agree.

7.Update My Website

I have had the same look for two years now, my goal is to sit down and refresh my website look and content I am sharing.

8.Post 2-3 Blog Posts A Week

I’d like to challenge myself to be more consistent with my blog posts and for you all to trust that I am here. I went a few months with out posting on here. I need to decompress and get rid of the writer’s block I was going through. I did not want to post just to post, I like to think more of quality and not quantity.

XO,

SHAY
